Farewell 2009 -Welcome 2010

The old year draws to a close. The new year is waiting with all its promises and hopes to come. We wait to see what it will bring.
The past year was highlighted with laughter and tears. Moments of joy and moments that brought us down to our knees to ask the universe "why?" We welcome new faces to the table and watched as once again chairs were pushed in never to be filled again in this lifetime. We celebrated with family and friends and enjoyed moments of quiet reflections in solitude. Life in all its beauty and torment was played out in 2009.

Daryl and I stand together at the open door at midnight to let the old year ebb out quietly with thanks and let the new year come in with all its bright promises. As we stand on this cusp once again we offer you all the love and laughter we can often. We also hope all bright blessings upon you all! We welcome you all to be a part of our lives and thank you for all you bring into it.

Happy New Year!!!!

Merry Christmas

Christmas is......

Chirsitmas is a star
some shepherds and sheep
a baby in a manger softly asleep

Christmas is love for those both far and near
and friends we hold to our hearts most dear
of bright shining promises that we try to keep
of hope of laughter and memories that runs deep

It is not of presents or bright shining toys
or gadets and glitter of which we adore
it is a feeling that we should hold near
and keep with us as we move forward this year

Christmas is laughter and memories bright
that we think of so often as we should thats right
Christmas is the hope of a bright new year
so this I wish to all who I hold dear

May your life be full of laughter and light
May the memories you hold always be bright
And if burdens come along your way
remember that hope is never far away!

Bright Blessings to you all
Happy holidays!!!

Love Kim

A poem for Java

A friend sent me this link on Youtube -its a song that a lady wrote and very beautiful at least I think so :) And since its almost Java's birthday -she's turning 3!!! She gets yet another blog post ;)

God and Dog

I lookup and I see God
I look down and see my Dog
Simple Spelling
G-O-D
same word backwards
D-O-G

They would stay with me all day
I'm the one who walks away
But both of them just wait for me
and dance when I return with glee

Both love me no matter what
Divine God
and canine mutt
I take it hard each time I fail
God forgives
Dog wags his tail

God thought up and made the Dog
Dog reflects the love of God
I 've seen love from both sides now
its everywhere
Amen
Bow-wow

I look up and I see God
I look down and see my Dog
And in my human frailty
I can't match their love for me!

An interesting read

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/fashion/17etsy.html?no_interstitial

Interesting article about how some people are making a living doing thier crafts on Etsy.
Hmmm maybe I should try to make a living out of my hobby......oh wait I am. Still need to convince Daryl I need a barn and some sheep though. Wonder if Luna would like to be housebroken??? What do you think Maggie LOL.
Java says "no way" with a sniff "I am an ONLY DOG!"

My treat to me from the Plowshare Show

Could not resisit it -saw it wanted it. Walked over and asked the artist if she ever considered trades. Turns out she had been wondering if I would swap some yarn for something of hers :)
And here it is.
Its a beautiful nickel/silver base with copper accents topped with an oxidized rainbow jasper.
Looking up rainbow jasper this is what its properties are:

A strong protection gemstone, red jasper is known to protect against hazards of the night. Jasper is one of the oldest known gemstones. It is mentioned in the Bible several times. Jasper is a strong securing gemstone. It is a stability gemstone. It is a powerful protection against things that are not good for you and it eases emotional stresses, making it a wonderful gemstone to have in your home.

Jasper gives one the courage to speak out and have personal independence. It also protects from fears in the night. Red jasper is thought to help balance the energy in the body. All jaspers help balance the emotional energy in the body.

Healing properties of Jasper
Jasper comes in many colors. All colors of Jasper will help balance the vibrations of the body. Jasper is slow to show a change to the person, but is such a basic "good" stone that one should always have it on hand. Rainbow jasper is said to ease emotional stress. Carry rainbow jasper and feel relaxed and secure.

Very very cool!

Back from Maggies Farm

Ohh what a wonderful weekend. I LOVE going to Maggies Farm. It is so wonderful to be there and get to help out in the barn. I got to help feed the crew and bottle feed Luna (who is soooo beautiful). And of course I had to go out and meet and greet Baby Thunder (VIS) and his entourage. Holly had to make sure I was safe LOL.
WE took part in the Plowshare Craft Show in Syracuse -what a fabulous show. So many talented craftpersons there with the best of course being Maggie and her wonderful wares.
Too soon it was time to go back to Canada and the kids. Not that they missed me LOL.
HUGS to all the critters and people on Maggies Farm thanks again for some wonderful memories.

Happy Birthday Daryl!!!

Yep its that time of year again. Still here, still together and still going strong (I hope) LOL.
Daryl still is and always will be the rock of my world. When things are collapsing he's there to help me carry the load. When I need to cry he's there with the kleenex box and bes tof all he knows when to duck and cover when I am in full bitch mode.
Happy Birthday Baby!!! Love you today and always :)

When it's love you give
(You'll be my man of good faith.)
then in love you live.
(I'll make a stand. I won't break.)
I'll be the rock you can build on,
be there when you're old,
to have and to hold.

When there's love inside
(I swear I'll always be strong.)
then there's a reason why.
(I'll prove to you we belong.)
I'll be the wall that protects you
from the wind and the rain,
from the hurt and pain.

Let's make it all for one and all for love.
Let the one you hold be the one you want,
the one you need,
'cause when it's all for one it's one for all.
When there's someone that should know
then just let your feelings show
and make it all for one and all for love.

Hat mania

Okay I'm a convert :) I love knitting in the round especially hats LOL.
First one is the grey mohair/shetland with green angora/silk blend.
Next was the grey angora and silk blend one and last but not least is a stunning Maggie's Farm roving hat.
They're a great project to take with me everywhere -wonder how many hats I'll have knit soon. I'm using up all my leftover bits of angora yarns combined with some experiments in wool, silk and mohair.

When this fad wears out I'll think about delving into socks!

Forever Red

Last night I went to my first NHL hockey game. Daryl won tickets from work so we got to see the Ottawa Senators take on the Washington Capitals. Best of all the Sens won the game 4-3 in overtime!!!
AWESOME.
I took my knitting to work on between periods of course.

AWESOME!! How many places can you see and touch a gator, a buzzard and more snakes than I am really comfortable with LOL.

All clear on the homefront

Had a followup with the doctors yesterday from the cancer scare this summer. All is good -no signs of any more bad cells. YEAH!!!! Now if only the scar would go away. My son loves it and thinks its "cool". My mother thought I had a tattoo done. Nope Mother nature mom not me -are you kidding like I would voluntarily have more needles!
LOL
Oh well guess this ends my bikini days ROTFLMAO

I'm so gosh darn proud of myself

I know this is NOTHING to you awesome and talented knitters out there but this is me -two left hands when it comes ot knitting. I figured out how to knit in the round :)
I'm making a hat I'm so easy to make happy.
LOL
Somebody needs to find me something more constructive to do I think.

Poor Neme

He's so silly he doesn't run when Lindsay calls his name -she dresses him up, carts him around and generally abuses him and HE STILL loves her??? Strange little kitty but we love him to death!

Thank you soldiers!

It's the Military, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It's the Military, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women who have served and are currently serving our country and pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Pray for their families and ones who are left behind.

Rememberance Day

Rememberance Day holds a special place for my family. My parents were both born in Holland. My dad remembers the Canadian soilders with their tanks liberating his village. He also remembers the bar of chocolate they gave him. He didn't know what it was.
My mom tells stories of her uncle who was killed harbouring Jews from the Nazis. They kicked in the door at Sunday supper and dragged him into the street shooting him there in front of my grandparents and his wife. His daughter took her first steps that horrible day. For three days he had to lay in the street as an example of what would happen. Today there is a bell tower in his village with a plaque commemorating his bravery and sacrifice.
My grandfather was arrested for resisitance activity. He was gone for three weeks hiding after his brothers blew up the train tracks that were taking him to the camps.
Tomorrow we take a moment to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. We mourn with the mothers who let their sons go to war. We grieve with the wives whos husbands walked away to never return. Even today mothers and wifes and husbands and families pay the ultimate price for freedom.
Is a minute of silence really enough to say thank you?? Is there really any real honour that we could offer that would ever be enough for our freedom?

All I can say is THANK YOU!!! To all of you who have and will pay the price. There is nothing else I can say of feel. THANK YOU again and always.

Company

A dear friend of mine has been visiting making for much fun and spinning and a very jealous Java :)
Jane brought her two dogs Korkee (black) and Graycie (white) with her. Korkee and Java can play nicely but Graycie cannot so we have to play refereee often!
They leave on Thursday - I'll be sad to see everybody go but Java will not -she is TOP DOG!!! LOL
Was away at a spinning show on Satureday and came home with some funky batts to spin -a very nice mix of corriedale, angora and some glitz made by another dear rabbit friend of mine Julianna -she also raises chickens - and was recently featured in an article about raising chickens in town for food. She promised to send me the article -hopefully soon!
Hugs all

New buddies

Well Shenanigans is fuinally starting to adjust to life with out his grey buddy. He and Java have formed a new alliance for power and comfort :) They look so darn cute together -glad the old boy can adapt. I was very worried about his happiness -he has been looking for Grimmy and crying for him. Human comfort is good but apparently another four legged critter is better :)

How can we not be in awe

Of simple things that are so beautiful in their creation. Today some nice people came to remove the VERY Large wasp nest from our front tree. What a work of art this thing is -the colours and design stun me. The nest itself is 18 inches long by 3.5 feet in diameter. How can something so small and fragile as a wasp create such a monument. How can something so fragile withstand wind and rain perched on one thin branch. the colours swirl on it like luminsecent glows -all made from chewed wood and the wasps own saliva. I could create something so beautiful if I tried.
I am humbled by it!

Warm colours on an otherwise dreary day

Last night the dye bug bit Jared -maybe it has something to do with the 40lbs of corriedale sitting in my living room. A small business friend of mine recently got her hands on this wonderful soft fibre and offered me some of it :)
Anyways I LOVE what this kid can do with colour -even pink which is not my favorite colour glows and calls to me SPIN ME SPIN ME. LOL
Most of this will be for sale at future events - Jared wants to be either a marine biologist or a vet so his college fund needs to be very large.
